INGREDIENTS

  • 8 ounces chopped pork
  • 8 ounces of ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/4 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground chili pepper
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 tablespoons of butter

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup thick cream

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In large bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, onion, egg, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, nutmeg, allspice and parsley. Mix the ingredients well and roll into 1 1/2 inch balls.
  2. Put the butter in a large frying pan and, several times, start frying the meatballs, baking them on all sides until they are perfectly browned and cooked, about 10 minutes.
  3. Once the meatballs are cooked, put them aside and start preparing your sauce. Add the butter to the pan and once it is melted add the flour by whisking quickly and forming a roux. Bake for 1-2 minutes or until it begins to turn golden brown.
  4. Slowly add beef broth while whisking all the time to keep it from becoming lumpy. Once all the broth has been added, cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until the sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Add Worcestershire and heavy cream and continue cooking until sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Add the meatballs to the sauce and cook them together for about 5 minutes.
  7. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.

CUISINE NOTES

  • If your stove has too many pieces burned after you finish cooking the meatballs, you can wash them before you start your sauce.
